Is Any Church Safe to entrust newly Born Again Souls for Spiritual Growth?
|
|
|
It is sad to say that some churches or denominations are not safe. No
matter how much the denomination is respected...or even if her history
is one of the longest in a town or city...or if her pastor is well known
and widely respected through a TV ministry...or her if building is one of
beauty and can seat thousands of members...regardless of her size or
popularity, if a certain local church cannot educate her people and
change their lives, then that church is not fully safe for
you to entrust your newly born again baby soul to grow as that church
may not obey the Word of God nor practice.
If a church has too many attractive man-made points outside that draw
your or unbelievers' curiosity, be very careful as they might miss out
the most important God-made points that His church must use to teach
its people and to change their lives. When God's word is preached without
compromise, it is sharper than any two-edge sword and pierces the hearts
of men (Hebrew 4:12).
But, because the nature of mankind does not like to be accused as a
sinner, a church may dull the edges of Word of God and be a place to
entertain people.
The top priority of a church is to preach the soul-saving gospel to all
condemned people and to help them to escape the permanent punishment of
hell and become a child of God. A church must guide people to the Plan of
Salvation which is freely given by God and recorded in the Bible
clearly. But when a church does directly correct them to repent, since
not very many people will understand that such correction is for their
own good, these same people will turn to other easy-going churches.
This is why easy-going churches skip the most vital first step where
you can become a child of God through being born again and teach people
to start from the next steps, which means some churches are teaching
people to carryout the duties of Christian when they are not yet Christians.
In other words, children of Satan are deceived by false teachers or led
by the blind to do the duties of Children of God. As long as these innocent
people are not eager to find out the truth from the Bible themselves,
they will have false peace in their heart and after being faithful church
members for many years, they will find themselves in the hell – but too
late to change that destiny.
Consequently, when you need to locate a sound church in order to entrust
your own soul, then do not look at the outside factors like the structure (building),
pastor, music, popularity, etc. but carefully observe the inside factors,
like, what they teach and how they practice what they teach.
Here are some very simple but important Bible Doctrines which can be
used as guidance when you are seeking a true church:
- If church teaches that all people are God's children as God is love,
then, this church is already teaching wrong doctrine as the Bible
clearly says, No one is righteous (Romans 3:10) and All are
sinners (Romans 3:23).
How can God have the unrighteous as His sons? — This is a wrong church.
- If church encourages all visitors to fill in the application
for membership to that church without going through the steps
of Hearing the Gospel of Salvation, Repentance, Acceptance of Jesus as Savior,
Confession of Faith and following Baptism by Immersion, then, add that
person to the church as a member (which is the order shown in the New Testament),
then, that church is only eager to increase the number of members of its
congregation than seek the salvation of their souls from eternal
judgement.
- If church is changing its worship service with contemporary
music, instruments, procedures, which will entertain people more than to be
pleasing to God, then it is possible that the general ministry of
that church has placed more of an emphasis on man than on God.
- If a church is trying to appeal to the emotion of the people
rather than to the reason for the existence for the
congregation, this church may
not be able to help you find Biblical truth because they
will keep speaking to your ears than training you to study
the Bible yourselves. At the end you may build up a zeal to
work for God but you will be out of the truth and knowledge of
God (Romans 10:2)
and you will find out that your faithfulness
was in vain and gnash your teeth in the darkness (Matt. 8:12).
Some important tips for a newly born again spiritual infant to find a sound church are:
- If you were able to find Jesus as your personal Savior with
the help of a certain church or one of its member, most likely
that church should be safer for you to be trained
and to grow up spiritually with because that church already
has shown a concern over your soul and did something for you.
- If such a church or person is not in your local area, you should
invest some time to look for a church in your town with patience
until you are able to find right one for you.
- In any case, when you are visiting a church, make sure that
you get the printed Articles of Faith of that church and
observe if they are teaching as such. If you cannot find out
yourself whether those Articles of Faith are Biblically
sound or not, you can take it to a reliable Christian you
know and ask for advise.
- A church should be able to give the impression of a tough
training institute where sinful natures are changed and
sharpened to become a matured Christian, and always
emphasizes the winning of dying souls to Jesus Christ.
